Dollars Make Sense.

Good Friday.

ESPN’s sportswriter Bill Simmons coined a cute term – “the Tyson Zone” – which refers to the level “an athlete or celebrity reaches when his or her behavior becomes so outrageous that one would believe any story or anecdote about the person, no matter how shocking or bizarre.”

While Mr. “I’ Wanna Eat His Children” might be the club’s founding father, Kanye West has been a card carrying member since 2005. The latest offering in his G.O.O.D. Music Series only serves as a testament to this fact.

If any other rapper were to make even the slightest allusions between his work and a day of sacred significance, a slight screw face mixed with a Mutombo finger wag would be the standard response . But when Yeezy swagger jacks the name of the holiday commemorating the crucification of Christ at Calvary for this track – shucks a promotional track at that – no one even bats an eye.

Crazy is as crazy does.

Anyways, it’s almost Sunday, which means in the “first” culture the hip-hop blogosphere oh’ so loves to reverence, I’m later than Snoop Dogg’s reflexes after 30 years of chronic cannabis consumption. But fuck that bullshit. I don’t subscribe to that nonsense. We be all about our substance over here. And substance takes time kids.

By leaps and bounds, this song right here is the best offering from Yeezy’s G.O.OD. Music Friday drops. The heavy bass, smooth keys, and Charlie Wilson’s soulful ad-libs reminisce of College Dropout Kanye. I ain’t mad at this. Too Yeezy’s drowned vocals are perfectly juxtaposed to the beat’s vibe. Common ain’t bad. Pusha T brings that water heater. Big Sean’s lines are really witty. Hell and even Kid Cudi doesn’t piss me off on this song.

Really, great effort/a good music showcase. I like a lot. I’m giving it an A+. Golden stickers, kisses and hugs all around.

Move over Jesus.

the product kanye is putting out recently really are remnants of backpacking kanye who couldn’t get a deal and bared his brashness on tracks in that goofy/awkward manner. this is the kanye i remember enjoying. not dogging late registration, that was pretty good; graduation was eh to me, but 808s wasnt that enjoyable to me and the last straw.
ye is getting me hyped by going back to his soul samples and charismatic “keep hating and i’ll keep shining and prove you wrong” stylings. co-sign on the grade. i am ready, i am ready.
