Dollars Make Sense.

So Good.

This gives me hope.

Vodpod videos no longer available.

Hip-hop’s biggest problem is intellectual laziness.

Hands down.

Synonymous with innovation, from Grandmaster Flash, to N.W.A, to A Tribe Called Quest, to Slim Shady, to Martin the Louie The King Jr., rap has always been an ever evolving medium.

Usually just when you’ve grown complacent with its sounds and vibes, new players emerge, flipping the script, and totally shaking everything up in the process.

So today, when you have dudes in it solely for that paper chase, regurgitating that same old same old, it becomes bad news for the genre and really kills it for the fans, turning a capitative audience into an indifferent audience and then into something even worse:

A cynical audience.

The game needs originality to survive.

So when I found this video on Nah Right yesterday, I couldn’t help but smile.

Resuscitation arrived.

Talib Kweli is a rapper. Never forget that. Tho people try to box him into that bullshit “conscious rapper” category, I’ve always admired the dude for staying true to himself and never letting labels affect his music. Hi-Tek does his thing too.

The concept here is simple but brilliant. Lyrics are nice. And the beat is hypnotic. All in all, this music video very much breathes fresh air into hip-hop’s very much polluted landscape.

So, good work gentlemen.

So Good by Reflection Eternal.

Direction by Court Dunn.

You need to proofread. Less commas and periods. “This give me hope” or this gives me hope???
